Instagram wants users to have two accounts in the metaverse

Instagram is asking users to create a second account in a marked return to privacy online.

Instagram – Get Meta Platforms Inc. Class A Report is encouraging users to create a new second account to keep in touch with a smaller group of friends.

By pressing the profile icon for a few seconds. Users can get to the prompt that allows them to create a second account. In addition, the app wants users to have two accounts: one for a larger audience and one for a smaller circle.

Instagram Responds to Users

Instagram has not revealed when the new feature was launched. Or how many people have used it to create a second account.

Moreover, the changes are a response to user feedback as social media interactions become more private. Additionally limited to a small group of trusted friends.

The move comes seven months after the social media platform gave users the option of hiding the number of likes they receive on their posts online.

Ongoing Instagram Controversies

Instagram has recently been the subject of controversy after internal documents revealed. That the social media company was aware of the app’s negative effects.

In September, a separate Wall Street Journal investigation revealed that “32% of teen girls said that. When they felt bad about their bodies, Instagram made them feel worse.”

Instagram gave users the ability to hide the like count on all posts in May this year. After two years of testing, in an effort to make the service less competitive, particularly for young people.

In November 2018, Instagram introduced the Close Friends feature. Which allows users to share Instagram stories stories with a smaller group of friends.

As part of its virtual developer conference, Facebook Connect, in October, the company announced a fundamental transformation of its brand, changing its name to Meta and hoping to become a metaverse company.

The metaverse is a $10 billion project that will see Facebook transition from its widely panned social network and related family of apps to a “embodied Internet,” as founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has described it.
