NFTs are a relatively new technology that basically use blockchain technology

NFTs are a relatively new technology that uses blockchain technology to ensure digital asset ownership. For instance, if a video game uses NFTs to safeguard 100 in-game objects, it should be technically impossible for someone to hack the game and acquire access to such an item because the production and ownership of such items is secured on the blockchain database.

One of the main reasons why so many businesses are adopting blockchain technology is the increased security. Microsoft has been experimenting with blockchain for several years through various projects and partnerships, while Opera just revealed a new web browser focused on Web 3.0 and cryptocurrency last month.
