Millennium Hotels and Resorts debuted their M Social metaverse hotel on Decentraland on Thursday, making it the first hospitality firm to do so. The Genesis Plaza in Decentraland will house the digital lodge, which intends to express M Social‘s identity and encourage the growth of virtual communities on the network.
Visitors to M Social Decentraland may gather in the hotel’s lobby, where they are welcomed by an avatar helper, and users arriving at the summit of Decentraland may be eligible to win prizes at actual hotels
The news comes as the brand intends to consider potential partnerships in the coming months, as well as run multiple competitions on the M Social Decentraland platform for holidays such as New Year’s Day, Valentine’s Day, and others, according to a statement from the firm.
Executive Chairman of Millennium and Copthorne Hotels Ltd, Kwek Leng Beng, said that the M Social metaverse was “about being distinct” and “unique.”
As we move to the future, we must go beyond the conventional concept of hospitality and engage our visitors via new immersive experiences, he said. Through M Social Decentraland, we seek to revolutionize hospitality by integrating online activities with real-world events.
According to Saurabh Prakash, Group Senior Vice President for Commercial, the hotel business is “rapidly developing” and his company has been “embracing various technologies to engage clients and improve visitor experiences.”
He elaborated, saying, “The metaverse is one such channel that affords us a plethora of opportunity to forge unique social bonds with our visitors. M Social Decentraland will allow us to interact with new and current clients in both the real and digital worlds via online and offline engagement.”
M Social, which debuted in Singapore in 2016, has relocated to the Metaverse with several other hospitality companies. The main brand now operates hotels in New York, Singapore, Auckland, and Paris, among others, and has said that it intends to grow to further places and achieve additional outreach goals.
MGM Resorts also used virtual reality (VR) solutions to achieve new-hire onboarding goals, which included immersive trainers to prepare for challenging guests and manage important hospitality concerns.
DAMAC Properties, located in the United Arab Emirates, recently unveiled intentions to establish its own Metaverse platform on The Sandbox, replete with NFTs and virtual land, for some of the industry’s most opulent hotels.
