Sega teases NFT and metaverse features

Sega, the well-known Japanese video game developer, has hinted that NFT and Metaverse features will be used in its upcoming game concept. The new framework, dubbed “Super Game,” will comprise a series of AAA games that will employ Sega’s technology to innovate leveraging the company’s new and current IP (intellectual property). In an interview, Masayoshi Kikuchi, a producer at the firm, claimed that this will be used to see how different games may be linked together, implying the possibility of an IP metaverse.

According to Sega executive vice president Shuji Utsumi, these games must meet the following requirements: multi-platform release, global multi-language production, simultaneous worldwide release, and development as AAA titles with high related expenditures. All of this points to the fact that these games will be “global blockbusters.”

Sega had previously stated that it would consider investing $882 million in order to achieve this goal.

Sega executives did not just explain this new initiative in the near future. During the interview, they also talked about the future of the company and the future of gaming as a whole. Masayoshi Kikuchi, producer of Sega, said, “it is natural that the future of gaming will expand into new areas such as cloud gaming and NFT. We are also developing the SuperGame from the perspective of how well different games can be connected to each other”.

Sega already registered the “Sega NFT” trademark in Japan in December, although it also said it might drop NFT experiences within the company if gamers see it as a way to make money.

The “connected” nature of the various IPs could also mean that Sega is considering developing a metaverse for its IPs. However, this idea is not new, as another Japanese developer is already moving in this direction. Bandai Namco is currently developing a multi-IP metaverse, Gundam being the first IP developed in this plan.

CBI unveils a new metaverse platform

The second round of the private token and NFT sale for Horyou AlphaVerse, a metaverse devoted to social good and created by game and blockchain product developer Crypto Blockchain Industries (CBI), has begun. Horyou AlphaVerse is now accepting corporate and venture capital investments following a successful pre-seed sale of more than 100 million LIGHTS tokens to a group of innovators and collaborators associated with Horyou and Horyou Foundation.

Qualified buyers may buy up to 600 million LIGHTS tokens during this private sale. Land NFTs will also be accessible. There will be 180,000 Land NFTs in the Horyou AlphaVerse, distributed among 288 districts. There are 278 nation and territory districts in addition to 10 theme districts focused on the UN 2030 Agenda. 160 to 1,800 Land NFTs are divided into streets within each district.

The first hotel to open in the metaverse, it combines reality with digital recreation in AltSpace. This renowned Madrid structure delivers an outstanding real-world experience, which can now be recreated virtually. RIU believes the metaverse will be the future foundation of brands’ and people’s digital presence.
