The TRT World Forum has announced NEXT, a special young gathering aimed at addressing pressing global challenges; on May 14, the full-day event at the Zorlu Center complex in Istanbul intends to bring together around 750 curious minds from Turkey and other nations.
Roundtable discussions and keynote speeches will be held as part of the event to address urgent social, cultural, and technological concerns that will have a significant impact on the future. Climate change, space tourism, technological advancements, and global socio-political instability will all be discussed.
As outlined on the website: “the metaverse experienced a breakthrough in 2022. Although it is still in its infancy, many envision that it will widely be adopted in the news industry in the years to come. While major news organizations around the world are already experimenting with new opportunities, from virtual reality documentaries and augmented reality content to 360-degree news, metaverse is being marketed as a game-changer in the media industry. However, questions of how the metaverse can help reach new audiences, provide more interactivity within the news industry, and how the news will be told remain unclear. This session aims to discuss the possible impacts of the metaverse in the field of media and journalism”.
NEXT will feature keynote presentations from industry experts and influencers, as well as workshops and side events on topics like NFT, the Metaverse, and the future of digital content creation.
TRT CEO Mehmet Zahid Sobaci said, “NEXT intends to be a dynamic forum for young leaders, academics, activists, NGO workers, entrepreneurs, and journalists to voice their views for the future and give innovative solutions for a more inclusive world.”
“Young people bring a new perspective to difficult issues. When our participants are gathered in one room, we’re excited to see what type of inventive solutions and methods they’ll come up with,” he added.
Influencers Sana and Will Saleh, whose quest to clarify misconceptions about Islam has garnered them a 1.7 million TikTok following, Glen Gilmore, a digital media specialist and world-renowned “futurist,” and Pakistani youth campaigner Tanzila Khan are among the diverse speakers.
Ece Ciftci, a social impact leader, Jamira Burley, a motivational speaker, and Nisreen Elsaim, chair of the UN Secretary-Youth General’s Advisory Group on Climate Change, will also be in attendance.
