Ghostwire: Tokyo, Latest Installment in the Exciting Series

Published

on

Ghostwire: Tokyo, the sequel to the popular Ghostwire series, is the latest release from Tango Gameworks, and was published by Bethesda Softworks. The game was designed and led by world-renowned developer Kenji Kimura, who is responsible for such other titles as Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and ProTrain: Tauern Railway. This exciting action-adventure game is a first-person perspective game wherein the player controls a psychic with paranormal abilities who tries to defeat the ghosts haunting Tokyo.

The Setting

The game, as you may have guessed, takes place in Tokyo, but a version of the city that is overrun by ghosts and evil spirits. The role of the player is to control and imprison these ghosts and send them back to the dimension from which they originated.

The game opens with a ghost hovering over the scene of a traffic accident. This particular ghost seems to be searching for a body to inhabit and decides to possess a boy named Akito who was knocked unconscious from the accident. Akito wakes up still in control of his body except for his right hand which is under control of the spirit.

The Developer’s Take

We’re particularly excited by the possibility of players experiencing our modern, yet Visitor-filled city with 3D sound,” says Kenji Kimura, Game Director on Ghostwire: Tokyo. “This version of Tokyo is not a version you’ve ever seen or heard before. In Ghostwire: Tokyo, you’ll hear and encounter sounds that you normally would not hear in the city in real life. Our hope is that with the 3D sound, you will feel compelled to seek out and identify what is causing those sounds you hear.

In the main article, we will be examining some of things we know about the upcoming release.

The Setting

The basic mechanics of the game are centered around a top-down RPG, character-build idea, that requires the player to start out at a low level and progressively attain better equipment and fight more powerful enemies to, in turn, get better loot. The player faces and fights enemies with skills that are afforded to different character classes, each of which can be customized by equipment and talent trees.

Also, every enemy is classified by fighting styles, monster family class, type of damage they deal, and what it takes to kill them. Elemental damage, physical damage, and/or different types of magic.

With ceaseless demons to slaughter, countless Abilities to master, nightmarish Dungeons, and Legendary loot, this vast, open world brings the promise of adventure and devastation.
